I'm planning on doing a "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" fanfic, complete with fanart. It'll be based both on the movie and random stuff I get on the 'net about the books. Since I watched the movie, but still haven't read the series by Patrick O'Brian, the events in my fanfic will be ones from the movie. However, I need events from the past that you can only get from the books...so it'll be mildly confusing to anyone who actually knows what I'm talking about.
